Table of Contents

St Machar Cathedral

There was probably a small church here as early as 600 and a Cathedral from 1130, however the architectural gem is the magnificent two towers of the west front dating from 1370. It is believed that Sir William Wallace’s left arm is interred within the walls.

Aberdeen Tolbooth Museum

Aberdeen Tolbooth Museum dates back to the early 17th century. Its main function was as the town’s prison and it still has the original cells complete with barred windows. A great way to find out more about crime and punishment in the North East 400 years ago!
