Peterhead Town Centre Trail

First recommendation is Peterhead Town Centre Trail. This is a great historical waymarked self-walking tour around the centre of Aberdeen’s biggest town. It is a healthy way to find out about the people and events that shaped Peterhead throughout it’s 400 year history. There are 8 information boards along the 2km route which is relatively flat and is mostly on pavements Start at the junction of Kirk Street and Marischal Street and allow 1 to 1.5 hours for walking and reading the information boards.

Arbuthnot Museum

Arbuthnot Museum is one of Aberdeenshire’s oldest. The museum has excellent local and international exhibits and covers all ages of civilisation, as collected over the last two centuries by local antiquarians.

Peterhead Prison Museum

Step back to the late 1800,s and experience the harsh penal system that lasted here between 1888 and 2013. The prison saw the only time the SAS were used to end a domestic siege in 1987.
